Zebra Attack
Although it's not obvious to those of you reading this via RSS, I've done a graphic overhaul of jefftidball.com.
Honestly, I'm not sure what I think yet. I think it's an improvement over the old appearance, but I'm concerned that it's too blog-trendy, and that the photo is too tall, making the text appear too far down the page.
(The idea, by the way, is that there will be a new photo every month or so.)
But enough about my thinking; what about you?

May or may not be working for my mac. I see no photo and it's just centered text entries with all your shitfilter and stuff at the bottom of the page.
I don't like it. Old page was much cleaner/cooler
Ok, now it's working after I posted that comment. It's cool when it works!
Wow, that's different.
I think that whatever is most important to you should have the highest profile on the page.
So, if the cool photo is important, leave it large and at the top, forcing other content down the page.
If your concerns about the height of the photo mean that the text is more important, then the photo should be smaller and/or to the side, so that text is highlighted and the photo is an enhancement.
Personally, I'm not much for cool photos in this format. They're cool the first few times, then they seem to just get in the way. Imagine your daily paper if it ran the same lead cover photo (or even a rotating set of photos) every day.
If the photo actually changes frequently, this could be great. The rubber-stamp thing feels a bit dated, and you're right that the photo may be too tall, though. As of now, the banner ads in the sidebar are running outside of your active area. The general palette of the page is an improvement, though. And I quite like the transition of the photo and its distortion.
I don't think; I react.
