You Are Napoleon...
...and so is everyone else.
Last night, Jeremy ó abandoned by his beloved ó came over and he, Stacey, and I played Escape from Elba, the Cheapass Game where lunatics believing they are Napoleon attempt to escape from the island of Elba.
I had played this game once before, when it came out in 1998. Quite aside from its utterly brilliant and totally original concept, the game's design is chock full of clever ideas. In the course of play, you move from room to room encountering other Napoleons and fighting them. Losing fights makes you stronger (that which does not kill you...). Winning fights lets you take other Napoleons' things ó represented by cards ó which you place in your hand. Eventually, cards in your hand move to your "bag," where you form card combinations which eventually help you escape.
I believe that Escape from Elba is no longer in print. My copy is not for sale, so find your own damn copy, you thrice-cursed pretender to the rightful rulership of France.
