Ye Olde Po8 Logotype

Atlas Games has announced Pieces of Eight, my latest game design, previously known as the Untitled Pirate Coin Game. It'll be released (assuming all goes well with production) in August.

Pieces of Eight is by far my most innovative game design. The game's played with minted coins (only), all held in the hand and pocket through the entire game (look, ma, no table!). The design was originally inspired when my then-office-mate Heather came back from Six Flags one Monday morning to tell me about seeing a bunch of kids playing a card game that required no table while they waited in line.

The first element Atlas has unveiled is the spiffy logo you see below, designed by the inestimable Jeff "East Coast Jeff" Menges, who is getting his MFA in Illustration and — no shit — doing his thesis on pirate illustrations. Yarr! Jeff is also working on the cover paintings for the first two ships, the Maiden's Vengeance and Cursed Blade.

Rah! or rather, Yarr! I'll look forward to seeing it.

Had I known this was possible, I swear to God I would've gone for a Master's.

Nice work on the game. Sounds innovative, fun, and pirate-y!
