Weaving Dreams
Part of my re-employment plan is to update my web skillz so if the computer games industry won't have me I'll be able to apply for web design jobs. Making deft use of Stacey's staff position at Southwestern, I bought an academic (read: much cheaper than retail) copy of the latest version of Dreamweaver on ebay. I had previously been using version 1.0, which required the laborious booting of Classic mode every time I wanted to use it. And it's not like adding "Proficient with Dreamweaver 1.0" to my resume was going to turn any heads. At least, not towards me. Actually, I bought the whole Studio MX 2004 suite, because it was only about $25 more and I figured I could learn Flash while I was at it.
Simply using a program is frequently the best way to learn it, so the first thing I did was redesign the look of Stacey's blog, though she still will not let me post a link to it. Next up — and a much longer project — is a redesign of jefftidball.com. Although I don't want to change the general appearance of the site significantly, I do want to create a 100% CSS page layout, rather than the table-based design you see before you. I also plan to update the jefftidball.com manifesto to incorporate things I've learned and opinions I've changed in the last three years.
Wish me luck, and if you have any redesign suggestions — or sites you especially admire that you think I should steal some design idea from — comment me a note or URL.
