The Usual Suspects in 25

The Usual Suspects in 25 words or less:

Repeated viewings bear it out: This is one of the best movies ever put on film. Concept, execution, presentationóit's all there. Grade: A+

Last night Jeremy Bernstein and I saw this on the big screen at the Arclight, followed by Q&A with Bryan Singer, the whole evening hosted by the Scriptwriters Network. Although Singer's comments weren't all that moving or interesting one way or the other (with one exception*), the event as a whole was nevertheless a prime example of why it's so great to live in L.A.

*When asked what really happened in The Usual Suspects, Singer said that he has come to believe Verbal basically just paid the four guys in the lineup fifty thousand bucks apiece to help him storm the boat, and everything else is fabrication.
