"The Supremes"

After all the trash I talked about The West Wing in its post-Sorkin mode, I should let everyone know that Will sent me a tape of a recent episode called "The Supremes" that rivals the best episodes of the first four seasons. I actually watched it twice in the same day.

The show's dialog was back up to par and the eye-rollingly over-dramatic editing and music cues that infested the first episodes this season like a rash of boils seem also to have fallen by the wayside. But what's better, the story of "The Supremes" was human, compelling, contained, and used the ensemble to tell story in a way that made sense given the situation and the characters themselves.

So, anyway, I'm giving the show another try. Here's hoping "The Supremes" wasn't a fluke.
