The Jurist Approves

This morning as I drove to work, I noticed a black 323i identical to mine in the lane next to me with the vanity plate "JURIST." The guy inside was a good-old-boy with greying hair combed straight back and a light blazer over a checkered shirt. I wondered to myself whether "GAMIST" was still available in California. (It does appear to be. I further note that the fee for personalized plates has dropped from $100 to $41 since last I checked. Tempting.)

In any case, some time later, after I had moved on to think about other things, I looked over and realized the Jurist was trying to get my attention. He was nodding, grinning, and giving me the thumbs-up, apparently approving of our identical Ultimate Driving Machines. (Although perhaps he had noticed my "I Voted" sticker and approved of that, instead. Though I shudder to imagine the amount of nodding, grinning, and giving of the thumbs-up he'd have to do in the span of his morning commute if that's all it takes to win his approval.) Whatever the reason, though, I was glad to see that ó much as the Dude abides ó the Jurist approves.

(I also saw "BOLIVIA" this morning. Which is neither here nor there as far as Bolivia's approval is concerned, as that vehicle was parked, vacant, and an SUV. Perhaps Bolivia, like the Dude, simply abides.)
