Settlers Online

I just read that Microsoft is planning to publish Settlers of Catan as an online game. That's great news; it's a game that's almost perfectly suited to online play. The only question is this: Why didn't someone do this about four years ago?

(I guess that's not the only question, because here's another one: Why is Mayfair's website so ugly?)

Not sure how official it is, but one can currently play Settlers online, along with many other euro-style board games, at BrettspielWelt:

Even before this there was a java client you could download and play peer to peer. It was buggy but generally worked. It didn't have a lot of control in it, for instance you could play a game by yourself if felt like it.

Will BSW lose the ability to have Catan up?
