One Saint, Two Saints / Red Saint, Blue Saint

It turns out that while "Saint" is abbreviated "St.," as in "St. Peter," "Saints" is abbreviated "SS.," as in "SS Peter and Paul." The Chicago Manual of Style says it's true, and I believe them.

I guess the Chicago Manual assumes that readers are smart enough to infer from context that "SS Peter and Paul" means "St. Peter and St. Paul" and not the steamship Peter and Paul.
