"Not Handy"
On Saturday and Sunday, my friend Alex Court directed a short film I wrote for him called "Not Handy." The script is based on a general idea he proposed, where two people get stuck somewhere off the ground and proceed to blame each other for their predicament. Unless he objects, I'll eventually get around to posting the script here. (For that matter, I suppose the short itself will be compact enough that it, too, could be posted for download. Stay tuned....)
On Saturday I hung around the set. You couldn't so much say that my presence constituted any kind of contribution, but being there was educational from my perspective. As just one concrete for instance, I changed a line of dialog in the Vehm script this morning based on the way the actress in "Not Handy" interpreted a very similar line on Saturday.
All in all, Alex and his producers assembled a hell of a crew, some excellent actors, and a nearly perfect location. It was a marvelous experience, and one I look forward to repeating again and again. (Except, you know, perhaps with money at some point down the line.)

Very cool, my friend. Perhaps, one of these days, we'll get to do this experience together!
You absolutely did contribute, and I was glad to have you there. Your continued attention and passion to make the script best it can be led you to suggest additional line changes which we incorporated the next day as well. Also, having you there meant that I wasn't worrying about trying to change lines or come up with fixes to the text when location or actors made them necessary. It meant I could focus on my job of getting the best performance from the actors and crew without distraction. That's a phenomenal contribution.
