No Love for Monkeys?

We are flying to Minnesota today, and, although we will be back to Los Angeles after the holidays for a little while, we are bringing Abby with us today, for good. It's her big move, so wish her luck.

But here's the funny thing. The Northwest guidelines for pets traveling with luggage note:

Service animals may travel in the passenger cabin without a kennel (except monkeys), provided they are properly harnessed and do not occupy a seat.
Obviously, what I want to know is whether they mean to give service monkeys better, or worse, treatment than other animals. Is it that monkeys don't require kennels, or that they're not permitted in the cabin at all?

Or that you can have your service monkey in the cabin but it does in fact require a kennel.

Very ambiguous language, which is perfect for airline safety guidelines. (rolls eyes)
