Me @ FFG

On March 1st, I'm starting a new job at Fantasy Flight Games, as a senior developer and editor working on board and card games. By happy accident, FFG is even closer to our new house than the Atlas offices — it'll be a six-minute drive to work.

I hadn't been looking to leave Atlas, but found out FFG had this position open while working the joint Atlas/Fantasy Flight booth at GenCon SoCal. In talking to Christian "The Sixth Most Powerful Person in Hobby Games" Peterson about what they're working on and what they have in mind for the future, it was pretty clear that I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I'll get a chance to work on some of FFG's signature giant box productions, a load of other board and card games, and may have a chance to get involved in some of their sister company's media projects. (You've seen the Midnight Chronicles trailer, right? And the Tide of Iron promo documentary?)

I'll miss working with John, Jerry, Michelle, and the rest of the Atlas crew, of course. I owe them many, many thanks. Feng Shui fans shouldn't worry; Glimpse of the Abyss is through playtest, the manuscript is wholly finished, and my departure won't affect its release. Likewise, the Ars Magica schedule shouldn't be set back.

So, it's on to the new! I'm looking forward to it.

[...] suck it up and bike to work, man!

That'd be my preference, actually, but I'll also be responsible for dropping Edward off at day care in the mornings, which creates a longer trip and adds too many things to transport on a bike. Though maybe I'll see about one of those pull-your-child-along bike trailers, when it warms up in the spring.

Congratulations, Jeff! I know John and Michelle will miss you a great deal, but their loss is Christian's gain.

Wow. Good luck. Just... Good luck.

Say hi to Brian S (lead graphic designer) for me when you start there.

Congratulations, Jeff!

Now see if you can kick-start their long-delayed 'Grimm' game into production.

Sounds wonderful! Happy to hear it. I loved playing Drakon with you and the Fantasy Flight guys, and I'm a big fan of Ingenious, so I have warm fuzzy feelings about the company, too. (Of course I have warm fuzzy feelings about Atlas, also, by way of your experiences.) I look forward to hearing more about it as it continues! And keep us informed about media offerings.

:)

Congratulations, Jeff! Sounds like a great matchup.

I've heard good things about the kid bike trailers. Many of them convert into jogging/walking strollers as well, and the swiveling front stroller wheel makes for much better mobility in a crowd than the three-wheeled jogging strollers with the fixed front wheel.

Excellent!

Now you just need to convince them of the vast marketing power of podcast reviews.
