Kerry It Is

I didn't forget, I was just trying to decide. And now I have. I'm going to support Kerry through the primaries.

I narrowed it down to Dean and Kerry pretty much right away after my web research was done. Then I waffled between the two of them for the better part of a week. The thing that made up my mind was the Rock the Vote candidate forum on CNN. All my research had been on the candidates' web sites; I don't think I had seen any of them live to that point.

Kerry was as advertised, but I was really turned off to Dean. It wasn't that he wants to be the candidate for guys with Confederate flags on their pickup trucks. It's what his further, insistent discussion of that comment said about his thought process. A guy who thinks like that can't win the South. And it's not just poor Southern whites; gay marriage makes him "uncomfortable, the same as anyone else." He'll have a hard enough time winning votes from anybody once they find out he can only empathize with white New Englanders. He'll alienate them even as he's reaching out to them.

So, money and time to Kerry. The first is a simple enough matter. I'll have to do some research on the second to find a way to support his candidacy without doing anything that upsets my manic introversion.

I think I'll also send a bit of money directly to the DNC, because they'll give Bush hell no matter which candidate prevails.
