It's Christmas Eve, baby! If only Austin Powers were here.

An ellipsis (that's a single mark of punctuation that comprises three periods) should have a space before and after it. There are also spaces between the periods. When an ellipsis ends a sentence — indicating the omission of the text that ended the sentence in the source material — you end the sentence with a period as usual, then add the ellipsis after that. All the spacing rules still apply: space before and after, spaces between. An ellipsis used in script dialogue to indicate trailing delivery does not typically follow these guidelines. The rules of punctuation do not apply to people making films, just as many other rules of good taste seem not to.

In other news, Stacey's parents and brother are visiting us here in Los Angeles for Christmas. Ma and Pa will be driving back to Minneapolis on Thursday, but Ben will not fly home until Saturday. We have a grotesque quantity of presents under the tree. Usually presents are divvied up among the four or five Christmases we celebrate when we're "home" in Minnesota for Christmas, but it's a one-time festivity this year.

I downloaded a program for captioning photos and making them conviently browsable several months ago but haven't used it yet. I think I will put our digital camera to use today and tomorrow, and upload the magical results to jefftidball.com for your amusement and edification. So stop back soon, baby. Maybe Austin Powers will have shown up by then.
