Image Experiment
Rather than fixing things which are broken, I decided to do an image experiment I've been wanting to try.
I've never been really satisfied with the way a full color image looks in the upper right hand corner of this page, against my relatively monochromatic page design. So I decided to see what happens when the images are yellowishly monochromatic, too. I whipped together three of these. I also left the original color images in the random rotation. Reload the page a few times and tell me what you think.
For what it's worth, I tentatively like the monochrome versions better, though I'm thinking that perhaps they need actual blacks in them, too.
Comments
Having pulled up the "Open Late..." image in yellow, normal, and yellow in succession, I can say that the yellow-tone images are thematically aligned with the color scheme of the page (such as it is). I can also say that I agree with your assessment that the images should have actual blacks in them.
For those of you keeping track at home I've gone with the yellow scheme but added black to the palette. Results currently visible; commentary still welcome. Some photos clearly adapt better to this than others.
