I took Stacey to The Producers last night for her birthday, which was a hell of a lot of fun. There was much singing and dancing and heiling, as you'd expect, and some really entertaining schticks, physical gags, and dialog. I'm not an expert in theater, and certainly not in Broadway-style theater, but I had a good time, and so did Stacey. If the tickets won't break your bank, it's definately a show to check out.

It's interesting how, over the course of the show, Hitler makes a seamless transition from heinous enemy of humanity to a punchline so frequently invoked that you completely forget the reality of the historical backdrop that makes the irreverence funny. (Which is not to say — at all — that it stops being funny.) "Springtime for Hitler" may be the most momentous comic discrepancy I've ever seen.
