I embarked on a program

I embarked on a program of running starting this morning. Since we moved and Abby has a backyard, we haven't been taking her for regular walks ourselves, and I have started to develop a gooshy belly. It's surprising how much four walks around the block a day help keep you in shape. (Relatively speaking, of course. They keep you in decent shape for a desk-jockey, but you wouldn't want to try anything crazy.)

Stacey joined me this morning for the first day of the thirteen week ramp-up program in The Beginning Runner's Handbook. Stacey and I did most of this program together about two years ago and ran the Los Angeles Philharmonic 10K benefit in Griffith Park at the end of it. I'm pretty sure it was easier then, when we didn't live at the top of a big hill up which the last few intervals had to be run.
