Dock Modification

I want to put my desktop dock on the right side of my screen to free up the vertical screen real estate available to application windows. That's easy enough to do with the standard dock control panel. However, when mousing over dock items over there on the left, the system throws the dock item names up on top of the desktop files I keep on the right side of my desktop. It's very hard to read them like that.

I figure that the dock items' icons should suffice to identify and launch items from the dock. Does anyone know of a dock app or hack that will make the dock simply stop displaying the titles of dock items?

(If it's not obvious, this is a Mac OS X question.)

I don't know of a "Don't show me the damn names!" app, but have you considered just locking the dock to the left side instead?

I was hoping to keep it on the right because I usually have whatever application window open and flush with the left edge of the screen.

Also, when working at home, I have my laptop and main monitor running in dual screen mode, and putting the dock on the left would put it waaay over on a secondary monitor nearly out of sight.

I should definitely have admitted right up front that this was a problem that would only be suffered by the extreeemely anal retentive.
