Convertible For Sale

The reality of the coming move increases: I'm selling my convertible. If you or someone you know needs a BMW 323i with 110K miles for the neighborhood of $11,500, drop me an e-mail at jeff [at] jefftidball [dot] com. It's a great car (I'd never in a million years sell it if I wasn't entering a convertible-unfriendly climate) at a good price.

Unable to afford a new car in my LA years, I bought a convertible after moving to Seattle. The lesson: a top-down car is all the more wonderful in an environment where you want to get the most out of your limited supply of clear sunny days. Even living in the rainiest part of the country, I never for a moment regretted owning a convertible.

Minnesota is particularly hostile to this particular car. My mechanic — who knows his shit regarding BMWs and Minis — advised strongly against moving it there because of how the top's seals react to cold. (Well, actually, he advised me to park it inside all winter, which amounts to advising me to sell it.) Also, a high-powered rear-wheel drive vehicle in the ice and snow is not so good, and the two-door design also makes it a big pain to get Edward in and out of the back seat.
It's a sad thing, but it's definitely time for the Ultimate Driving Machine and I to part ways.
I say keep it. By the time you go anywhere the roads should be all plowed and salted.
You: But Ben, don't you store your high powered rear drive convertable in the winter?
