For a long time, I've been meaning to add a handy, global list of the most recent jefftidball.commentary to the sidebar. Today I rooted deep within the bowels of the Movable Type user manual to make it so.

My anal-retention about things like this knows no bounds, so the difficulty was chiefly in getting the line breaks and indentations to appear correctly, rather than in making Movable Type put all the correct variables in all the right places. (Though the latter was not trivial.)

Exercising my sphincter to its fullest (you're welcome) required much fiddling with spans and divs, which gives me hives because I frequently use them wrong, with unintended consequences in older browsers. What you should see in your browser is something like the image below. The commenter's name link (where it appears) should send you to the URL they entered when authoring their comment. The ellipses link should send you directly to the archive page for the entry in question, further loading the specific spot on that page where their comment appears.

If your browswer doesn't look like the picture (Bad broswer! Potty outside!), or otherwise fails to perform as advertised, please drop a comment!

Nice work! Look at that right column fill up!

Your sidebar comment thingy is working on an IE6 browser on a machine running Windows XP. I'll report from home as well to let you know how things are going on the Mac front.

Works well on Mozilla Firefox and Windows 98se with special secret additions.

Of course I realize I'm not creative because I don't use a Mac, but I can be relied upon for testing. :)
