Command-S
When composing long stretches of text — pretty much any time I'm working in a word processor — I often save my work very frequently. When in the composition groove, I sometimes save as often as once every sentence or two. "Period, space, command-s (bing!)."
It occurred to me just a moment ago that this was probably evidence of either procrastination or narcissism. (Or — oh God — both.) And since pressing command-s doesn't take all that long, if it's procrastination, it's pretty ineffective.
So let's just imagine that it's the pragmatic working habit of someone who's lost data before and doesn't intend to repeat the experience.
(You know what's a more effective method of procrastination, though? Blogging.)
