Brushes With Glory

In an "Amoeba" comment, Will writes:

Regale us, Jeff, with stories of the famous people you yourself have seen in Hollywoodland.
While none of these incidents are particularly interesting, they are, happily, the perfect use of the oft-neglected unordered list.
  • The week before last, at the Old Navy near our house, Stacey and I saw Ross Matthews, the guy who does the gay intern spots on Leno.
  • Garry Shandling was at the Westwood theater where we saw The Last Samurai. He sat several rows behind us.
  • While I was working at Gold Circle Films, I nearly spilled coffee on Noah Wyle.
  • On a different day, coffee was fetched without incident for James Franco.
  • Also at Gold Circle Films, I brought Coke (the beverage) to Martin Short, who preferred regular to diet, even after being offered the option.
That, sadly, is about it. I had been sent on an errand the day Heather Graham came into Gold Circle.

The list does not count places where you'd expect to find celebrities because it was advertised that they'd be there, such as at a screening of Pulp Fiction featuring Q&A with Quentin Tarantino or a screening of The Usual Suspects with Bryan Singer. (The screening of Miracles where Jackie Chan showed up is arguable, I guess, since he wasn't billed, but happened to be in town shooting Rush Hour 2. Even so, it's not like I saw him in an everyman context.)
