A Demoralizing String of Events
The last week has brought a very demoralizing string of screenwriting-related developments. Pretty much every project I've been working on, or have worked on recently, or have planned to work on, has suffered some significant setback in the last seven days. Even my new job at Tomo Software ó a very positive development overall ó also represents a step away from the full-time days of writing I've been able to put in since February.
With such a steady stream of bad news on so many fronts, it's been very difficult to re-focus on the positive, or to make plans for some new thing with the potential to rise above the current troubles. With any luck, an extended weekend away from Los Angeles will prove just the thing.

Cheer up bucky! Genon is coming! Plus (in the misery loves company department) my comany is having ... issues ... and is going to have a large layoff (~25% in my area). Good severence package, but when next we speak you may be much more employeed than I.
As far as I can tell, you've already done two very positive things. You've told the rest of us so we can cheer from the sidelines. And you've planned a short time to get away from it all and perhaps gain (or regain) a more balanced perspective. Keep up the good work!
Jeff! Don't despair. Things will work out. I hope you have a wonderful time in San Francisco.
